Staying Comfy and Focused while Homeschooling

Homeschooling is becoming very popular and many parents have decided to homeschool their kids or let their kids do virtual learning instead of in-person. We’ve gathered a few tips to keep you and your kiddos comfortable and focused while at-home school is in session!

One of the most stressful parts of the school year is trying to get your kids ready for their day. Maybe they’re heavy sleepers, slow movers, and indecisive outfit-choosers. One of the best parts about homeschooling is that kids don’t have the same pressure to get dressed up as they do attending public/private school. In fact, you could let your kids stay in their pajamas all day!

If that’s a leap too far for you, we have another suggestion: school pajamas for your kiddos. There’s really no need to put on “real” clothes unless you have a family outing planned, so why not have a stash of homeschool-approved pajamas at your disposal? Kids are a lot less likely to fight you about changing clothes when they know they get to put on comfy pants, and the less hassle you have to deal with means the more focus your kids can have on their schoolwork.

After all, let’s face it: kids are easily distracted. That’s why they talk in class, drift off into daydreams, and count down the minutes until recess. Letting your kids wear pajamas while they do their schoolwork gives them one less thing to be distracted by. Even as an adult, if I wear a pair of shorts that fit too tightly or a shirt that has itchy material, it’s hard for ME to focus. I’d be a lot more productive if I could wear comfy pajamas all day!

But how do you keep your kids from being sleepy while they work if they get to stay in their jammies? Easy: feed them breakfast, maybe do some physical morning exercises with them, and make them get a shower, especially if you’re taking us up on our homeschool-approved jammies idea. Most importantly: Don’t let them work in bed! If they’re in bed, it’ll be a lot easier to doze, and mixing up a place of rest and a place of work could potentially mess up their sleep patterns as well! Keep school and bed separate to have as focused and happy a child as possible.

Homeschooling is all about providing a safe, nurturing environment for your child. Help them feel as safe, warm, and cozy as possible by letting them work in their pajamas.
