Self-Care Tips You can Do in Your PJs

Posted by Lazy One on 28th Apr 2023

Too many of us make New Year’s resolutions that we don’t keep, but the good news is that even if you’ve already broken your resolutions, you can make new ones right now! Skip the normal weight-loss and exercise goals and focus on making self-care a part of your daily routine, all from the comfort of your favorite LazyOne jammies.

Nope im going back to bed lazy one

First, let’s take a minute to think about what self-care is: put simply, self-care is the act of protecting one’s own health, happiness, and overall well-being. There’s never a BAD time to start practicing self-care, whether it’s the start of a new year or the start of a new day. It’s all about taking inventory of where you are now and staying in the present moment; you don’t need fancy equipment, a strict diet, or even a whole new routine. There are plenty of ways to incorporate small, daily habits into the routine you already have in order to start practicing self-care and become the best version of yourself that you can be!

Starting from scratch might feel a bit overwhelming, but there are three main things you should focus on to get started: (1) Get better sleep, (2) change your morning routine, and (3) do something fun.

The single most important thing you can do to take care of yourself is to make sure you’re getting a full night’s sleep every single night. After all, getting enough sleep has tons of physical and mental health benefits. Most experts recommend that the average person get 7 to 9 hours of sleep a night. Take inventory of your sleep schedule: are you REALLY getting enough sleep?

It’s not just about getting enough sleep; you should also try to sleep the same hours every single night. Your body functions best when it follows a routine. If you get up for work at 7 am, you should try to fall asleep by 10 pm - 12 am. If you have trouble falling asleep at a certain time, try lying down around 20 minutes beforehand: if you’re trying to fall asleep by 10 pm, lie down at 9:40 pm, or at 11:40 pm if you’re trying to fall asleep by midnight.

To improve the quality of your sleep even more, and to make sure that your body feels relaxed enough to fall and stay asleep every single night, try doing some calming activities before you lie down. These could include reading, journaling, meditating, or listening to relaxing music. Whatever helps you relax!

Even after you get a great night’s sleep, the way you start your morning can set the tone for the rest of your day. You don’t want to start your day feeling rushed or behind; you need plenty of time to get ready and relax a little bit, so you can have the piece of mind to face whatever your day throws at you. The better your morning routine is, the more successful your day will be!

Morning Lazy One

You don’t have to get up two hours early to have a successful morning routine. Instead, try identifying which parts of your morning are the most stressful and then change them. For example, if you don’t want to spend a lot of time fixing breakfast, try meal prepping the night before, or even prepping breakfast for the whole week on Sunday night! In fact, meal prepping for every meal can save you a lot of time and frustration in an already stressful work week. Making small changes like these will help you relax and face your day with mindfulness instead of thinking about all of the things you need to do.

New Year’s resolutions don’t have to be all about schedule changes. One of the best things you can do for yourself is to do something fun and leisurely! After all, even the most successful people need breaks every now and again.

Of course, not everyone can take a vacation anytime they feel like it, but there are other ways to incorporate relaxation into your everyday life. Is there a hobby you’ve wanted to try? A friend you’ve been meaning to invite over for a fun dinner? When’s the last time you checked your community’s event calendar? Pick one thing to get started and then get adventuring! If you’re hesitant to try new things alone, bring a buddy along with you to share your newfound self-care tips with!

There’s no better way to kick off a great new year than to start taking care of yourself, maybe even for the first time ever! Just remember: you don’t have to make big changes right away to experience the benefits of self-care. Start small so that you can build habits that last all year long: get better sleep, take the stress out of your mornings, and treat yourself to something fun, even if that something fun is an impromptu family photo shoot in a set of matching pajamas.
